How is "Yet" used???
I found in Test preparation kit workbook (page 70-vol.1) a sentence with uncommon usage of Yet:
...Unfortunately, the more industrialized we become the farther away we move from direct contact with plants, and the less distinct our knowledge of botany grows. Yet everyone comes unconsciously on an amazing amount of botanical knowledge, and few people will fail to recognize a rose, an apple, or an orchid... Please show me how Yet is used in this case. Thanks a lot! |

In that usage yet = nevertheless. It contrasts our lack of contact with flowers with our ability to idenitify many of them. Michael
