1. Describe one of the difficulties in which you received help from your family, friends or classmates and please give specific details to describe how their suggestion helped you. 2. Do you agree or disagree The most important influences that young adults have are from their families. 3. A university' s plan about arrange the dorm according to same interests, hobbies of people. The woman disagree with the university's plan. Reasons she gives: 1.) People don't need same habits to make friends. She lifted herself to take the example, she and her roommate, they have different interests and they are taking different classes but they are very good friends still. 2.) There are several reasons for students to change dorm. It's not always because they can't get along with their roommates due to different interests. Some people just want to change location. What is the woman's opinion about the university's plan? Use examples to…. 4. Approach-avoidance conflict The professor cites one of his female friends as an example. She always wanted to be a teacher. And before university she was so interested and had so much enthusiasm in that. But later when she got into the work after graduation, she found out that she had to spend a lot time at home grading papers which was not what she expected before. And she had to give up weekends sometimes for her work too. All these happened because she only saw the interests but not the pressure. She really enjoyed being in the class with the students but she also started to worry that she might not have enough energy to handle all the works and pressure. Use examples in the lecture to describe what the professor say about Approach-avoidance conflict 5. A man is facing a conflict. His professor recommended a topic for his art history paper. But the only material, a book in the library was lent to another student. He was talking with a female friend about it. His friend gave him too solutions. 1.) You can just buy the book. But the man says: it costs money and he I not need it anymore after the paper. So it may not be worthy to buy it. 2.) You can just go and talk to the other student. And maybe you can work the paper together and share the same book. The man says: I have already went to the student and that student won't finish the book till next (maybe) Tuesday. And by then, I won' t have enough time for my paper which will seriously affect the quality of my paper. Describe the problem and the solution the man has. And present your own suggestion to the man. 6. Process of creating sculpture. The professor mentioned two basic processes of creating sculpture. (professor original words). 1.) subtractive process This process starts with solid materials and then you cut piece by piece on the materials until some shape is formed. This process has a problem which is that it doesn't allow people to make mistakes. For example, you sculpture a face and you make a nose, eyes, but then if you don' t like the nose, you have to get rid of the whole piece. 2.) Additive process This process is just like its name additive. People add things on to the sculpture. This process allows mistakes. The main material people use for this process is clay. If you made a nose and you don' t like it, you can the just English did not remember that with the Chinese general meaning is You may the nose which does not like this you make, then exchanges newly. Use the information in the lecture to describe the two processes and compare them with details. 1st, Please talk about the advice or suggestion somebody has given to you when you made a decision. 2nd, waits for me to think. 3rd, Policy: The school now tries to assign roommates based on similar interests. Girl's reaction: negative Her reasons: 1. Although she and her roommate are totally different, they still get along well. 2. Most people move out to change to a better location or some other reasons, but not because they don' t get along well with their roommates. 4th, Let me think… 5th, Situation: the book that the professor recommended the woman to read has already been checked out by another student. Options: 1). She can buy a book online, although it costs a lot. 2). She can talk to the other student and work out a way to share the book, but the other student is not sure when she will finish reading, and the assignment is due pretty soon. 6th, Art: sculpture. There are two ways to make sculptures. 1). Subtractive process, which means to remove material from the sculpture, allows less experimentation because when a mistake is made, it' s unlikely to be changed. 2). Additive process, which means to add material to the sculpture, allows experimentation because you can do it over and over again. |

These are color-coded, too. The blue cards represent topics to do with people, the pink ones feature places, the yellow ones focus on experiences/events, and the green ones feature things in general. Best wishes, ~ Jason
