Another tip to be aware for future FPGEE candidates:

If test questions ask you about your career, don't ever talk about being a pharmacist or your attempt to work in the USA. Many TOEFL raters are redneck. They don't like anyone to compete with Americans. Look at Lou Dobb tonight's show from CNN. He is very narrow-minded. He doesn't want foreigners to come to take Americans' jobs. He should educate himself that all foreigners are coming here to boost the economy.

It is foolish to prevent foreigners to come to work here since once employers can't find enough and qualified labor, they will send jobs outside the USA, or outsourcing. This will hurt US economy in the long run since US's GDP will become zero. It is good for a small group of investors though.

It is the same as pharmacy industry right now. I guess that NABP blocks foreigners by using high score requirement of TOEFL because some investors want to use vending machines to dispense medications or probably mail order company will get benefit from this shortage of pharmacists, not American people.

Another idea is that IT will play an important role in dispensing medications. If technology is possible, in the future, you can verify medications from video cam by sending it to verfiy from outside the countries as call centers in the USA are outsourcing nowadays. This will help organizations to reduce the costs of high wage of pharmacists in the USA.

Therefore, shortage of pharmacists must be a strategy for businesses to make profit in the future.

That is my speculation. My Indian friend just told me that many Indians came back to India because there are a lot of job opportunities in India. Every thing is outsourcing to India. This is called, " Globalization". Businesses send jobs to countries which provide cheap labor.

Capitalism is good for investors, not the poor.

Facts:

Be sure to pass all sections of TOEFL iBT (R21, L18, S26*,W24) before applying for FPGEE. Thousands of candidates passed FPGEE but could not achieve TOEFL requirement after several attempts. Percent passing rate on the speaking section is only 10 percent. (http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL...mmary_2008.pdf, page 5)

The average score on the speaking section of the US candidates is 22 and candidates from English speaking countries is 23 (http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL...mmary_2008.pdf, p. 9-10.)

Hi Knock, first of all, thank you(its a bit late) but you are among those in this forum who have shown me that there is nothing wrong with me in English, but its just a general case not to pass the TSE or the ibt from the first attempt or even the 5th!!, secondly, I 'm just curious.. have you passed the ibt (speaking 26) or not yet, cuz I see your threads here about struggling with the exam from long ago. Good luck in your path friend.

Hi everyone,
Just a short advice for anybody that is considering their results rescored. Please be very sure that your are checking the proper part that you wish to rescored. The toefl people are heartless regarding this matter, whatever rules they have there's no bending around it, no exceptions.
This is just a reminder, make sure you are definitely and 110% sure of what you want to do.
Goodluck,
SHC

Not yet, I could not even find a spot to take it. I took one last month after rescheduling it but it was a very bad test center. ETS refunded me the test fee. I registered for another test but it was cancelled. I haven't been able to find any spot until now. I paid 2 months ago but got a voucher instead. ETS official called me and talked to me about TOEFL problems and asked me to send all the compliants to him. I was busy at the moment so I would do what I have to do while waiting for the spot that I paid 2 months ago. It is frustrating. I hope that NABP will listen even a word from us. if NABP continues to ignore our complaints, we may have to tell everyone we know about the bad situations here in the USA.

There is no spot of test centers in my area until July 25.

Too bad... I hope that ETS will do something about the complaints I would send. However, if anyone has a good job back home, I would suggest you stay where you are. It isn't worth to be stuck in this mess.

Hi Vienna,
What i mean by proper mark on the rescoring form was make sure that you check the proper box( i.e. Speaking).
I have an unfortunate mistake of checking the written part and when i realized my mistake i called the Toefl office and explain to them to possibly change the check mark to speaking. I even told them if they only check my exam result that it is not logical for me to asked for written part of the exam because i already have a 27 which is over the minimum limit to get my pharmacy certificate.
I only got 23 on speaking so it is obvious that i needed the rescoring in that part. They flatly said no, so i guess i have to wait for another time to take the exam. It also showed me that they don't check anything like looking at your exam results.
Hope this is little clearer now. Take care..

You can request rescoring on speaking by sending another fax. It may cost you another $60.

In this case, you should call back again. Just in case, if you can get a better, representative. Some representatives are so ignorant and work like a robot that read the rules and follow, no brain. Some works like a human being. If you can't get a good representative, hang up and call again.

Good luck.

Good luck Sagharborchamp.... in my case I already marked the correct box for speaking rescoring and the request was confirmed recieved, and that was on April 8th, and till now nothing have changed in the score inspite of the many emails and calls, so I'm applying for another exam as well, Hope I'd have better luck in that one...but I'm just wondering,,, where did the $60 go , is there a possibility of having them back?!!
