Hi, I'm Summar i'm new to the forum, but through what i have read here i found you all very friendly and helpful

I would like your opinion on this essay i wrote.


Agree or disagree: Grades encourage students to learn.


Motivation is a very important factor in our life, It's what makes us wake up early in the morning to go to our schools or jobs, it's what makes us look for the future and work hard to get what we want. Some educators think that grades discourage students creativity and innovation, because it limit the students abilities to grades, On the other hand others think that grades for sure are a great motivation for the student to learn.

Firstly, it's an indication for the students to know if they are on the right track and they are understanding and doing well in a particular subject. Also it gives a great raise for the students self esteem when the see a great improvement in their grades due to their hard work, as if their work didn't go to with the wind. From my experience as a computer teacher I noticed that a slight improvement of a student mark, help to raise her confidence and encourage her to learn more. A lot more than if I gave her a present.

Another advantage, is that grades helps the students reach their goals. In order for them to go to better universities and have the chance to get a better education, which could lead to better choices of jobs. They have to achieve higher marks, which will be a great motivation for them to learn and work hard reach for their goals.

Al in all, I conclude that, although grades are not the only factor for learning, but it presents a great encouragement for them to learn and work hard to reach for their dreams in life. I hope in the future university will concentrate more and the students life experiences more than their grade to admit them.
