Hi,

To those whose toefl test was suppposed to be on 15th Dec, did you face the same problem?

It was my exam today here in Saudi Arabia but we couldn't do it! after two hours waiting, the supervisor informed us officially that the ETS decided to cancel the exam for today and reschedule it until I don't know when! There seemed to be technical problems with the server in America and the superfvisor said that it affected the timing of the exam all over the world. The supervisor was coming and going and recieving phone calls from the Us all the time! This distracted us but she tried to reassure us and asked us to be patient. The majority of the students were relieved after they knew the decision because their motivation began to get down as a result of the stress and long time they waited. Most of them felt they wouldn't do fine if they did the exam in that bad mental and emotional conditions. We weren't informed about when the test will be again. I hope it will be in the following week, not exceeding that!

Anyway, this is another chance for me to prepare since I still have some materials that I want to cover. I think rescheduling the test was for our side. I never feel tense at exams but this time was different. I was very tense, worried, fainting, not feeling well!! I couldn't sleep the night before the test and I couldn't eat the day of the test (I usually can't eat when I'm very worried). Now I feel a bit better. At least I got familiar with the test center and the students who will take the test with me. The supervisor is very nice and friendly which makes me feel comfortable.

Now, you tell me! what happened in your test center?

speaking section topics:

1) which is the most preferred mode of transport in your country and why ?
2) does learning to play a music instrument help a students development ( something of that sort cant recollect exactly ).

Writing Topics :-


1) A passage was given with the following main points :-
no of young people reading literature is declining
- they look for other alternatives that neither stimulate the imagination nor provide cultural enhancement
- Culture is declining.
- is affecting good writers and publications as well.

professor lecture - contradicting the points.
- other alternatives such as science, political analysis, history books available that are equally stimulating
- they are turning to music and movies that do provide cultural enhancement etc.
- dun blame readers - writers are writing more and more esoteric stuff so they shud be blamed equally.

You need to explain how the professors points cast doubt on the claims made in passage.

1) Some people think internet provides valuable information. other think it provides too much information. Explain whether u agree or not with examples as to why.
