Please post your Speaking section Re-score attempts!

Hello all,
I took the TOEFL on March 7th and I got my score report...
I got 23 in speaking section and I will need 26 to pass the speaking score required for my FPGEC. (got 29 in listening and reading and 27 in writing).
Anyway, I faxed ETS the form for re-scoring my speaking part. I have been reading here and there about how it is usual to get a different score after a re-score attempt.
I am trying to ask everyone who re-scored their speaking section to post their experience in this thread and if comes to be alot of variability we should do something about it like sending NABP and other professional organizations complaints about how ETS is not consistent with scoring their speaking section which hinders acquiring our licenses and certificates..
Also, please post your suggestions and opinion about this issue.
thanks and good luck to us all...

I do not . but some thing is wrong with either me or test standarization. Becuase One time they give me 28 each except speaking, than another time they give me 27 each other than writing. This time I recieved my results with 27, 27 speaking 20 writing 22.I can not under stand that how come I bacome good user of english one month and other month Iam just fair
Any body can suggest any tutorial for a consistant performance.

Hi friends,

That's my concern too. I already posted same thing few days before.

As I said, for example; a student gets 23 in speaking, and on rescoring he/she gets 27 or 24 or 22. I say it doesn't mater whether there is an increase or decrease, but my question is do they have any standard method for evaluation?

What they are doing on their first time? If we get change in rescoring, then it means that they didn't do well first time. Means they are not doing their job properly.

How they can play with the future of hundreds of students.?
Are they and so on?

Is that it is a human who score this, but that person has his or her bias, and it will depend on the mood of the "rater" as well as the condition of the speaker. As a test takers, we have to know our audience, we have to think and speak like Americans, because most if not all of the "raters" are Americans.

It suppose to be human "raters" who are suppose to give the score ... but with ETS who know for sure.

My latest response was re-scored from 24 to 23. Why is there such inconsistency?

I believe it is not fair that we are not allowed to buy our Spoken responses as it used to be with TSE. ETS takes possession on our answers, and so we cannot learn from our mistakes. Neither can we complain and argue our scores. This concerns me a lot.
The question is that, if a test taker scores highly in his or her Reading and Listening sections, doesn't it prove that the test taker is knowledgeable enough to understand integrated tasks in the Speaking section?
Also, if the test taker made a mistake orally answering an integrated question, it is most likely due to the tension and stress as well as lack of preparation time, not to his or her ability to present ideas and recognize main points.
My main concern is that this inconsiderate scoring of our responses looks more like discrimination than fair judgment.

I took the toefl test last March 14,2008, and i was not able to get the required score for my speaking test. So I apply for the rescoring of my speaking section, after I got the result of my toefl test. Anyway I got the rescored result yesterday and they increased it to 4 points, I was so happy now that I can start to enroll for this coming fall semester.I am planning to take a nursing course. This site was able to help me alot. So I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for those people who helped me achieve my goals... And to those who are still having problem with toefl just keep on trying and believe in yourself that you can make it.God Bless us all.

I dodn't know that was possible, you can get your recording back from the ETS? If you know the process please let me know, because if you live in the U.S. TSE is possible, next TSE is on August 17, 2008.
