Unbelievable score

This is unbelievable , I have written the ibt test for 5 times now , and my dilemma was always the 26 required in the speaking section despite that I always got great scores in the other 3 sections. My scores in the reading and listening sections were always 28 or 29 in all tests, the writing section was 24,24,25,28 respectively for the last 4 exams.

Anyway I did the best in the last exam , and I managed to get the score that I wanted in the speaking section
My scores were as follows
R 29
L 26
S 27
and the writing ????????? I got 12 .
I am pretty confident that this is a huge mistake by the graders.
They scored my response for the integrated writing task at ZERO....
I really can't understand how would I get such a score as I am sure that I did great on this specific task.

I am greatly disappointed, and I really don't know what should be my next move. In all the ibt tests that I have written before I got a grade of good on the integrated writing tasks, never limited or even fair but always good. and then they give me a Zero on the last one.

I really need someone to offer an advice regarding this case. and please make this as fast as u can.

Go for rescoring.... I am sure it is a huge mistake by them and you will get the required score of 24 definitely.

Call ETS... You deserve a writing score of > 28. Call them now. I don't think this is a matter of rescoring. There should have been a transmission error.

First call, but also be prepared to ask for rescore, if there is any change in score they will refund the rescore fee. Good Luck!

Thank you so much friends, I already faxed a rescoring request to the ets and hoping the best.

I was wondering how can I make sure that they recived my request. Do they send a confirmation letter or something the same. Becouse this is my first time to do one. If anyone can shed light on this question ,then please do so.
and thank you in advance.

Hello king tout, sorry about your problem.
In fact, you will be able to see in view orders that they take the money from your credit card and you will receive an email of your order of rescoring.
then withen 2 weeks or less if you are in USA you wll get a letter of the result of rescoring. hope u doing great.
By the way I am from Egypt and I ask about your strategy to pass speaking.. I almost did everything..record myself and listen again, spoke clear, moderate pace..but still 23 each time.
Thank you for advice.

Hi, friends
I'm sorry I coudn't reply sooner, but I really had good reasons for that.
Anyway, I filled for a rescore of my May 3 toefl exam {writting section} and the problem is that it appeared on my orders page over the internet 13 days after I faxed it to the ets. So I will have to wait for 3 weeks till I recieve my result.

About the preparation for the speaking part, I guess the best book that I beleive helped me alot is the book by ets. I had all books, longman ,delta, kaplan cambridge, but the one that really told me what I missed in my responses was the ets book{audio responses}.

So for the first 2 independant tasks I used this forum to get all the independant topics that you send my friends. One important thing that I noticed in my exams is that all the independant tasks are repeated sooner or later in the ibt, maybe with minor variations but it's all the same. I think they don't have an endless pool from which they get independant topics. Theses topics are repeated, always repeated.
I used to practice these topics alot. recording for myself and keeping these recordings, and then 2 days later I go back and hear my recordings, editing and adding to it. This site too is really helpfull English Listening Language Lab Online - Learn English Naturally . I used it to get transitions , ideas for resonses and more topics.

The first 2 tasks are very important if your aim is 26 in speaking , remmeber u need 2 good and one fair to get this score. And it is easier to answer these 2 tasks than the next four.

For question noumber 3 and 4 I used the guidlines posted on this forum by tarek el asser http://www.urch.com/forums/toefl-speaking/79318-finally-idid-thanks-god.html

These guidline do comply with the aswears that ets grad as good in the audio cd of the book. I followed them and it worked well for me. No more proof.

concernig question number 5 , I beleive is the easiest of all ,one can strictly follow these instructions
YouTube - TOEFL Speaking

these instructions are helpful and it works well I believe.
for the last question no 6. hear is the deal. It is all about good note taking.
I can't count the many times that I toke notes from the listening lecture or conversation and then when it comes to answering, I can't read what I have written. If you have a good idea of what the question is asking from you, then you will be focused on what to take notes about. You don't have to wite everything. You don't have to write it in english even. I wrote in my own language the ideas {IDEAS} that I can then use in my response.
remmeber we are not native english speakers, so there is no need to make it harder for ourselves to write ideas in english. Write them in whatever form you feel more comfortable in, and it will be helpful for you asl long as these notes are neat and easy to follow.
practice listening to longer audio scripts froml listening parts of the test and try to take notes and parphrase it in your own words later, this will be harder to you at home but very helpful in the actual test

I belive this test needs just devotion. One last thing is that whenever you fail one test. This means that u need to change your stratgy for the next one. It is not by the number of exams you take, it all depends on the stratgy of your answer
