    Hi :

I live in El Salvador and I am interested in taking the TOEFL exam. My questions are :
Are Institutional and International exams the same?
or do they differ from each other ? if they do, What is the diference?
I'll really appreciate your answers and comments.
    Thank you very much

Difference Between Institutional and International TOEFL

    #
What's the difference between the Institutional TOEFL and the International TOEFL?

Some people have heard about the "institutional TOEFL." The Institutional TOEFL is the TOEFL that is given by an "institution" (such as a company or a language school) so that they can measure the English level of the people who take the test. The score you receive from this test is NOT accepted by every university in the world. However, many colleges will accept a TOEFL score from the Institutional TOEFL. If you want your TOEFL score to be accepted at every university in the world, then you need to take the International TOEFL.
There are a few other differences as well, but first--do you really have the option to take either one?

    Erin, thank you so much.
I would like to know if the Institutional exam has the same difficulties as the international.

The Institutional TOEFL is simply one of the old paper TOEFL tests (a "retired" test).

The International TOEFL is a new test, never taken before. It could be on computer or on paper, depending on your location.

Are you sure about this? Are you sure that you have a choice between the Institutional TOEFL and the International TOEFL?

Or is it the the computer-based TOEFL and the paper-based TOEFL?
