I prepared by Longman Speaking. This is a book with 3 Cds that includes 8 minitests and 2 big tets and a lot of exercises. It explains the structure of your resposce:
1st and 2nd topic: introduction ( I think, I feel, I believe, I agree ....., because.....), body paragraph : 1st reason + supportind details, 2nd reason + supporting details. conclusion. 3rd and 4th question: introduction ( The reading passage provides information/describes/explains/ states that......, and in the listening passage the proffesor, student argues, states, adds information regarding, supports ideas in the reading passage by.....), body paragraph in the 3rd question ( what is student's problem/concern, which solution other student recommends and which solution you would prefer) and in the 4th question in the body paragraph describe what states reading passage and how information in the listening passage contradicts or supports information in the reading passage. conclusion. Questions 5 and 6: as always
introduction (in the listening passage there is a conversation between students about / students duscuss.....(for question 5), lecture about ......., the professor informs/states/provides information regarding ( question 6). In the body paragraph describe and paraphrase what is a conversation or lecture about. And conclusion. Question 5,6 were the easiest for me, because I took good notes, wrote down every point. . I read a lot of scientific news, reports, articles. I do not think that watching or reading fictions can help you. Toefl tests academic English. I watched all those channels: History, Discovery, National geographic, animal planet. When I encounter new word I make flash card. The most wonderful web site is voanews.com and voaspecialenglish.com. You can read and listen at the same time. Their podcasts cover different topic. I started to learn English on that web site. It was very helpful. Another good source is learnoutloud.com I bought and took at the library all the most popular toefl books and studied them. I never took any English classes, and I started to study English very late at the age 22. So in that situation I gave myself one year to prepare. It all depends on your English level. If you understand and doing well on the toefl practice tests, I think you are ready. If those tests are difficult, you should improve your vocabulary, read and listen a lot. Concentrate on your English completly. Read and listen every free minute. And you will pass this toefl.
