I just finished my TOEFL today. Reading and listening sections are ok. Actually I found that listening part is the easiest.
Writting topics are not that difficult as well though I didn't manage to write well. But speaking section! I did badly. This is the first time that I take TOEFL. I didn't expect that kinda environment for speaking test. It is like you can hear what everyone is speaking. It is quite distracting. And I got nervous as well. I expect my speaking score will be quite bad. Probably I'll have to redo it again. Good luck to everyone! K.H |

I had my TOEFL today, it was scheduled on 9:00 a.m I arrived one hour before the time, so the exam administrator asked me if I would like to start earlier (half hour earlier) ... ofcourse I agreed, that was a great advantage as when my Speaking section arrived I was the only one who was speaking, on the other hand, when everyone was speaking I was doing the writing, I never minded, I can write under noise!
The exam started with reading, one passage, 14 questions and 20 minutes. I messed on the reading, the first afew questions were all about inference and consumed alot of my time so I eneded up answering the last 3 questions in one minute Next, there was 2 passages, 28 questions and 40 minutes. again I answered the last question (summary) with around 30 seconds Let's look at the bright side ... at least I didn't leave any question unanswered. Then there was the Listening, (this section was extended, I thanked God that the extended section wasn't reading), the Listening varied, some of the sets were difficult others ridiculously easy ... I can't evaluate myself here. Then I took my 10 minutes of break, ate a chocolate bar and drank nescafe ... and hurried to the Speaking section ... I was alittle bit nervous (this is my first TOEFL-ibt, so this is the first time I perform Speaking), I didn't like the first question but miraculously managed to find reasons ... in general, I feel good about my performance, I lapsed once or twice, hopefully that this can be tolerated! Finally the writing question, the integrated essay was like those on the preperation books. The independent essay was easy and I found many examples but here I should give some credit to Lime ... BTW I'm a fan of his essays so I borrowed his friend Sarah- as Lime talks about Sarah I felt that I also know her, she became my TOEFL essay example persona not only that, but also I excerpted Lime's conclusion style too I hope that you don't mind Lime ![]() I haven't taken my score yet, so my tips are not necessarily to be accurate ... I don't want to raise my hopes up ... hopefully to make it to 95 ... I can't wait until I receive my score. Last edited by Luma : 2009 June 27th at 06:09 PM. |
