TOEFL ibt or IELTS? Need to achieve 25 or 6.0 respectively (writing)

Hi,

I need to retake one of these tests. I already scored 106 points in the TOEFL ibt, but I need to achieve a score of 25 points in the writing part. The university requires either 100 points (and 25 points in the writing subsection) [TOEFL ibt] or 7.0 in total (and 6.0 in the writing subsection) [IELTS]. So, my question is: Which one is easier to achieve? Which test would you choose?

Thanks!

What was your writing score in TOEFL? I mean if your score is under the 25 in afew points just practice more and retake TOEFL (specially you became familiar with it so retaking it must not take alot of efforts)

I'm not familiar with the ILETS, but what I know, that in their Speaking section you speak with a person, unlike TOEFL where you record your answers.

Based on Barrons estimate table a score of 22/30 means that you scored an average of 3.5/5 in both of the essays. In order to get a 25/30 you must score an average of 4/5.

If you want to give TOEFL another chance, post some of your essay samples on the TWE subforum, maybe some users can give you their thoughts about them.

Good Luck!

Hi Econ,
I have taken the IELTS and got 6.5 for my writing section actually it was not hard to get 6.0. see 6.0/9.0 or 25/30=60/90 or 75/90. 75>60 the conclusion is that the IELTS's 6.0 seems easier than the TOFEL's 25.
GOod luck for the test.
