TOEFL score validity

Hi! I am going to apply to PhD programs in Finance in the next application season / this fall. I have a good TOEFL score (99th percentile) but, unfortunately, it is set to expire in late fall of this year. I am aware that it is ETS/TOEFL policy that scores be valid for only two years after the test date. Here is my question: Will schools accept a TOEFL score that is valid at the time they will receive it? Or does the score have to be valid at the time my application is reviewed, or maybe even at the time I am entering the program? And no, I don't qualify for a waiver ... I did both high school and my undergrad degree in Europe.

Here's an example with dates:

Suppose...

  • TOEFL test date: October 15, 2012.
  • Online application for program opens no later than September 1, 2014.
  • I fill out online application forms and request TOEFL transcripts by September 1, 2014.
  • [Consecutively send all other documents]
  • Application deadline: December 31, 2014.
  • Program begins: September 1, 2015.

Under the above assumptions, will US and Canadian schools accept my score? Given the TOEFL's price tag, I want to avoid taking the test again.
