Hi,
Do we follow the american english or the british english? (For eg :- colour is spelled c-o-l-o-u-r in the british english & c-o-l-o-r in the american english). In india we follow the former. I'm really confused about this, so can you help me out? Which system applies for the TOEFL?

Of course, I cannot say for sure, but I simply cannot imagine that TOEFL would take off any points for using British spellings of words.

Arrow Answer from ETS about British or American English

I've been wondering the same, so I just emailed TOEFL. Here's what they replied:

"The use of British or American English is acceptable. Your essay will be scored in the same manner no matter which form you choose to write in."

Let's hope it's true... because if I tried American spelling I'd definitely end up with a horrible mixture. :o
