hi Erin,
I need some help regarding the study plan I should follow to prepare for TOEFL, which I am going to take on the 28th of June - that means, I have roughly 40 days for the preparation. Of late, I had some unexpected project work to do. I am not even in my own city. I am unable to manage my time and allot atleast one hour to TOEFL daily. I brought some of my TOEFL boks and CBTs with me. I hope I can study Grammar and practice writing, along with doing some PBTs atleast one hour a day. and I plan to work on the Listening section and the CBTs in the last ten days, when I will be going back to my place. I have already taken the GRE, and so I dont find the Reading section particularly imposing. I have already done some paper based tests, in which i could do reasonably well on the reading and listening sections. this is also one of the reasons why I plan to relegate the listening practice to last. non-availability of cassette players here is also another reason. I know you are very busy and this long letter of mine might have costed a lot of your valuable time. But I would really appreciate if you can advise me whether the above plan would work out, or if it has any serious shortcomings. Raghuveer Edited by - raghuveer_v on 2002 May 15 01:39:52 |

Hmm... Sounds like a pretty good plan to me, although I think you should try to prepare every day if you can.
I think overall familiarity is probably the most important for you at this point--you've said you think reading comprehension and LC are (relatively) easy, which leaves the SWE and Essay. If I were you, I'd focus on the weak points, but still try to do some work on those areas of which you are confident; I've seen so many students become overconfident of an area, then not do as well as they'd hoped on a section. In the end, though, you should see that the TOEFL is a lot easier than the GRE, so you should be okay. Keep us posted with your progress! HTH!! Erin Please post further questions here.
