Parents are the best teachers
“ Parents are the best teachers” according to a Chinese popular slogan. Parents being best teachers can be attributed to their clear understanding of a individual child and the most direct knowledge parents can provide to their child.
Among all the people, parents are the closest ones to a student. They live together for many years, from the child’s birth to his or her adulthood. Parents have most detailed and accurate information about their child’s preference, attitude and deficiencies. Based on these information, parents can guide the student most effectively and accurately. Comparing to his parents, student’s teachers may not know him that well, because they usually have a class of thirty or more students. The time available to teach them is also limited. The teacher can not focus on every individual and give him or her knowledge corresponding to his or her personal interest. At this point, parents do better in teaching their child.
Parents also have dramatic influences on their child. As surveys show, children tend to subconsciously imitate their parents’ behaviors. Every time parents do some thing, they are setting a model for their child. If parents behave in a good manner, showing their child with positive attitude such as being punctual, honest, and optimistic, their child may gradually develop the same attitudes as he or she grows up. Other people may have these much effects on him.
As all above, a student may have a number of different teachers in his or her life, parents are indeed among the best of them.
