Can "an expertise" refer to a person the same way "a beauty" does as in "she's a beauty"?
Please, look at the following sentence...If "an expertise" can refer to a person, not his or her ability, what else's wrong with this sentence? Even though the applicant is an expertise in the field, he didn't seem to be ready by the interview and wasn't very skilled at presenting his achievements or background. |

No, I have never heard "expertise" used in this way.
In this sentence, we should talk about an "expert," a person who has expertise. Also "ready by the interview," which means ready before the interview is a little bit unusual, too. Normally we say "ready for the interview." Hope that helps!! Erin Erin Billy TestMagic.com San Francisco, CA USA |
