My name is wrong on the TOEFL & GRE registration. What do I

Hi Erin,

I had registered for TOEFL & GRE under the name Synthia Mirlin Findlay Milton(Milton is my Father's name). But, in my passport, it's Synthia Mirlin Findlay only. I inquired at the test centre. They said that if I could produce a secondary ID stating that my name is as in the registration, I would be allowed to take the test. But, the score cards would show this name only. In all my marksheets and other credentials, this name is not available. Will there be a problem during admission and so on?? Please do let me know. I am very worried.

So many things are going on right now with visas that I must make a very strong recommendation that you ensure that all your names match up perfectly!! Word for word, letter for letter, on your passport, your scores, everything. One of my students almost couldn't come here because he had an extra name on his school documents.

You need to try to find something that has the extra name on it, and take it to the test center. Then, at the test center, you need to ask them to change your name so that it matches.

You should also call the test center again, and try to get advice again. As you may know, different people will say slightly different things.

Don't take any chances!

And could you let us know what happens? Thanks a lot for the info. I think U are absolutely right. I called up the RRC. They said that I could also cancel the tests and register again. But I don't know which one is better. Are u sure that they will cooperate in changing my name at the test centre?? If it becomes impossible then, I will not be able to do anything !! Won't it be too late? Please tell me what to do!
