    Rescoring

    Hi all and knok,

I applied for rescoring like exactly a month ago (for TSE which I gave in Oct), but I still have not heard anything from the ETS. Could anyone tell me how long does it take to hear from them? I faxed my rescoring request to them with my credit card info. I've been checking my credit card statements, but I dont see any credit for $50 in them recently. Does it mean they are still in the process of evaluating? Please let me know what's happening? This is my second try and again made 45. This is going nowhere.

    Unhappy Re: Rescoring

I also asked for my rescore for Oct. exam. And I called them on Jan. 3rd. They told me that my rescore has no change. I havn't gotten any letter for that yet. ( I am very upset with their rescore. coz on Dec. 30th, I called them, and they said they havn't start it. But on Jan. 3rd, they told me my rescore has been done and the result has no change.)

Thank you very much for the info. I'm really scared to call them now coz I might have a similar experience like yours. God, Can't this way of sucking money ever stop? This is really frustrating.

    Good luck

    Re: Rescoring

My friend recored May, June, and July, requested for scoring 2-3 months ago. For May, after she sent the request, two weeks later, she got the new score report of lower at 40. No charge.

For June, after sending her score report, she waited for 2 months, she called ETS. ETS said,"Your score does not change. We keep the rights not to report your score." Then two days afterthat, she got the score report. Two months later, ETS charged $50 on her credit card.

Then, she recored the July, same thing happened as June. She didn't call since she was afraid that she would be charged unreasonably. Two months afterthat, she got the score report, 40.

You see..2 out of 3 of her scores were inconsistent. I wonder if someone got 45 everytime in 15 times which I heard a lot about that , there must be 2-3 out of 15 will be reported as 50 after rescoring.

I told this story to my American friend. She said," That is one way of rescoring discouragement." It is such a horrible experience.

Pharmacist group, please make a note on this. It is one of the long lists. Fifteen minutes change your life. Two raters change your life. This is just a sample of tasting one kind of....

However, let's pray. Good things will happen to us. Mean raters should be laid off or sick on the days they grade our exams. Only generous raters will grade our tests. If we cannot get the good raters, we hope our institutions wake up from the blind and deaf. If all of those did not work, I wish that you guys get the questions that you feel comfortable with.

God will be with the persons who intend to help people.

    Best Wishes,

    Re: Rescoring

    Hey Knok.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a pharmacist too and passed my FPGEE and TOEFL and struggling to get thru' this TSE. I already gave it twice and made 45. But last time, I felt as if I did great, but still made 45. Do you think we can do something about this by writing to NABP or something? BTW, are you a pharmacist too? I've my TSE on Jan 15th, but lost hope. I just gave up.

    Hi, Raghu

Best of luck for rescoring. Nice to see u. I am also a pharmacist Passed FPGEC and TSE but waiting to pass Toefl.

To get results from ETS, you need patience. You know, once i got two results of two TSE tests of two different months same time. ( At the three day intervals )
so keep calling ETS. You will be ok

    Bye

    Re: Rescoring

    Ragu,

Yes, I am a pharmacist but if I cannot pass TSE by June 2005(2 year expiration), I may bury my pharmacy degree in the back yard and do something else. Actually, I worked as a pharmacist and owned drugstores in my country for over 10 years and finished two master degrees in the US. If I cannot pass TSE, it may be time to change my career. I didn't really waste the school resources since I used my knowledge for 12 years.hi..hi...

Whatever will be, will be. Don't worry. No matter what the result is, I will do in every way to make things right.

Imagine that, for those who cannot pass TSE by June 2005, there will be no TSE in July and August. The new TSE and TOEFL starts in Sept. If you fail TSE, you may need to retake both and pay both fees which will double from now. What are you guys going to deal with it? From statistics, it is obvious that the average number of times people having taken TSE before passing is 100/17( percentile 83) = 5.9 times.

That means by average ETS will double the revenue by (5.9-1) x cost of TOEFL assuming that people pass TOEFL on their first attempt on the old format.

Doctors already cancelled TOEFL and TSE from board requirement starting from 2005. I don't know the result but our voice will make win-win solution possible between American people who need pharmacists and pharmacists ourselves.

Give it a try. It is a proper time(time of changing format) to speak out. If it doesn't work, that's their choices. We are still happy anyway no matter where we are. We are able to find a decent job everywhere we want to work.

    Cheer!
