    Question TSE to iBT

    1.
I'm just wondering if there is anybody going to give up TSE and to try iBT from September?

For myself, I should keep taking TSE and try iBT since my TOEFL score is valid until next August.

    2.
Does anyone have any idea how difficult iBT speaking is?

I am just looking for the way to pass English fluency requirements

Thank you for sharing your plan!

    Ashy,

Is the iBT going to be an alternative to the TSE?

If so that would be great news! I think the iBT will be a lot easier, because it is such a broad test, I mean that some many different kinds of people take it.

The TSE is really too difficult.... but then the only people that take it our medical profs., and I think that means that ETS maintains a really high standard for it.

Do you know which states are allowing the iBT in place of TSE?

    Thanks Tino

NABP is permitting ibt now,so the states which require the great FPGEC wont mind ibt and the states which dont have problems with a TSE 45 are cool enough,i mean u dont have to worry abt them,

DOes anybody have any prior experience with ibt ,share thy thoughts, people will benefit from them.

I am in the same situation. I did the standard TOEFL one year ago, and now I need to decide if taking the TSE or repeating the new TOEFL. Because I am just beginning to study for the FPGEE, I will let the time to go by, and read future opinions about it.

    TSE to iBT

    Yes, Spanish Pharmacist.
As most of us are concerned, one problem is if we are brave enough to throw away TOEFL score which we already passed and do start studying again on paper or PC. I'm not brave enough, so am going to take both TSE and iBT.
It definitely cost more, however, we are getting more chances as well.

Another problem is iBT speaking section seems very difficult as TSE

Share more info, idea, plan, experience here, please!

Why do you need to throw away the Toefl scores, you have them right already and if the scores are still good I think you shld not worry abt throwing them off.

Now,if the passing scores of speaking section is 26 on 30,what is the overall passing scores for Toefl ibt, find that out,you may not need to pass the sections individually but you may still pass the test, let me check the NABp requirements again.

Question TOEFL iBT.. plz go thr this

    hello everyone,
i'm giving a link here, hope u find it informative
    http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group...SA/message/265
    - if i understand this post clearly, TOEFL iBT is different from old TOEFL in that
    - in old TOEFL total score was more important than scoring specific no. of points on every section. TOEFL iBT may or may not be challenging but its like IELTS now, in the sense that no matter what your total score is, u should get a min. of the set score on every section. otherwise u dont clear it. & min. no. of points for speaking section is 24 which is highest of min. limit for other sections.

i'm suffering a lot on account of TSE. i need some guidance on this matter
    - i've not cleared TSE yet. i failed it 2nd time & given for rescoring. waiting for result.
    - since old TOEFL will not be available in USA after 24th sept, i've decided to give TOEFL on 3rd sept.
    - i have just sent out application for FPGEE.
    my q.s are -
    - should i postpone old TOEFL & instead take TOEFL iBT? since there is no hope of my clearing TSE.
    - or i should go ahead .. take old TOEFL & keep trying for TSE?

any advice, suggestion is welcome. por favor, el seņor let me know at the earliest sothat i can decide to postpone TOEFL.

    thanx
    pooja

    Hi Nairutya, ashy and all!

Thanks for the given information. All I can tell you is that the old TOEFL is OK. With only the book 'How to prepare for the TOEFL from Barron's' you can get a high score. My English is not that good and I scored 253 points. It's pretty "easy", compared with other exams.
So Nairutya, you've just started to take TSE and maybe you clear it after rescoring. I wouldn't give up now. If you finally clear TSE, then the TOEFL will be easy for you. And you still have untill June 2006 to pass your TSE, right?
If I have time, I will try to take the TSE as well.
    Good luck!

By the way, which is the best book or course or best preparation for the TSE? Thank you!!

    Arrow hi spanish pharmacist

    thanx for thy opinion ..
books for TSE are - one by jack rose, there is another one by dean papajohn.
i had joined intensive course for 1 month with bruno hill & though it did not reflect in my score, i feel that my performance did improve. i learned to write my responses precise & grammatically correct. i also worked on my pronounciation. overall i feel its worth the money u spend on this coaching class.

    hope this helps
    good luck
