"A good sense of humor is one of the most important human qualities"
"A good sense of humor is one of the most important human qualities."
--- Every man during his life evolves and develops his own personal qualities which subsequently characterize him personally. Among such qualities which are inherent to the human being, I think the sense of humor plays the most important role. Indeed, presence of the sense of humor is the reflection of the intellectuality. Also, humor helps people to prevail over temporary problems and succeed in a face of difficulties. First and foremost, the sense of humor is the first sign of the intellectuality. It is not the secret, that majority of greatest scientists and artists in some moment during their life were remarked for their witticism. For example, well-known story says that Isaac Newton, being asked how he was able to discover gravitation law, replied "The apples are falling all the time. Perhaps, I was just the one who dared to ask myself why." Or consider how ingenious violinist Niccolo Paganini parried the question about how many people visit his concerts: "Last night it was so crowded, that I had to play upright." In both cases, such parrying of the questions with a great wit is the ample evidence of high level of intellectuality. Secondly, sometimes humor helps people to look on the negative life moments from the bright side. During the period of the great depression in the United States, Charlie Chaplin, the greatest comedy actor, by means of his cinema roles, let people all around the country the chance to smile. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that exactly his movies made a significant contribution to the ultimate recovery of the country from the crisis. Or american writer Joseph Heller, whose satirical novel "Catch-22" about the period of Second World War became real bestseller. He also gave representation of difficult period with positive note. Therefore, humor, in some way, makes people to look on life more positively. Finally, people who can laugh at themselves are surely the first candidates on the success. One of such representatives is undoubtedly my friend Sarah, who is always struggling for achievement of the most difficult aims. One day, in the private conversation, she disclosed to me her secret: every time she fails, Sarah just makes fun of it, thinking how dummy she was. This invigorates her with such imperturbable confidence, that makes her carry on trying, until the success eventually comes. In this case, self-irony is the way to succeed not being dismayed despite all the difficulties in the way. In conclusion, if there is one quality of human personality which is especially important, then I have no doubts whatsoever - it is the sense of humor. Humor is the reflection of the intellect as well as the remedy from the problems. That is why the best way to deal with vicissitudes of fate - is to smile them in response. |

Great piece. I've read a couple of your other works as well. Do you always use your friend Sarah as personal examples? because it works! Anyways great job. Also, have you passed the iBT or PBT because you have a lot of versatility in your writing.
