I think improving roads, highways and public transportation are closely related with each other. Both improvements are important for today's modern countries. Roads and highways are also crucial for economic life. All products are distributed to consumers through the transportation system. effective transportation system depends on well built and kept highways, roads and trains.

Let's think a fruit producer, he grows high quality fruits and wants to make profit by selling his fruits to wholesalers in different cities in his country or abroad. If there is a good highways and roads in that country, he will be able to send and sell his products easily and rapidly without decaying any production.

I live in Turkey. It is a developing country and car makers produce so many cars that our roads are not adequate for this large capacity. As a result of this, many traffic accidents occur every year and that cause thousands casualties. The main reason behind this bad situation is that Turkey' s inadequate road capacity. Untill two years ago, much of our roads are not double. All drivers have drived in a oneway road. Therefore, they exposed to accidents. With the starting of the construction of the new double roads and highways. Our casualties have been decreasing significantly.

On the other hand, nowadays, most of the people live in a big cities. Many people live in suburbs of the cities. Due to have excess cars and motor vehicles air and noise pollution become an eminent problem in today's big cities. Governments should also encourage people to use public transportation system by developing comfortable and fast public transportation system. There is also necessary to construct and improve subway systems in big cities. Subway is a indispensable transportation system in many big cities like New York, London and Istanbul. It is also the fastest and safest public tarnsportation system. By improving the public transportation system, air and noise pollution could be cosiderably lessened.

As a result, spending more money on improving roads and highways and improving public transportation are equally crucial. Governments can not take precedence over one to the other.
