No problem at all, as long as you keep it accessable for the public free of charge and keep me acknowledged (as you did).

Thanks for doing that, it makes it easier than the download option.

I haven't checked back here for months. I was just looking up some information for a friend today and saw your post.

I think the link to the simulator introduction page you uploaded is a useful starting point, too (http://toeflng.forumarket.com/toefl/EssaySim/), as it describes how to use the simulator and some technical aspects.

Cheers from downunder

This is a more advanced version of my "random essay script (Random essay topic script)"

More detailed description:
- Get a random topic from a pool of 182 topics (official list from the toefl bulletin) by pressing a button.
- Countdown of 30 minutes starts running as soon as you get your random topic
- When the time is up there is an alert and the words of your essay are counted.
- On the press of another button you can see a sample essay (from the list provided by riz1983; in this post (ESSAYS in the range of 5.0-6.0 from TestMagic)) on the same topic. I have started putting more essays in either from the essay list here on TestMagic or from posts on the forum. Supposedly all 5+ essays. For the following essay topics I have not found a scored essay (at least not 5 or higher):
1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7; 9; 10;11; 12;28; 29; 30;31; 32; 33; 40;132; 133;135; 136; 137; 138;140;141; 142; 143; 144; 145; 146; 147; 148; 149; 150;
151; 152; 153; 154;156; 157; 158; 159; 160;161; 162; 163; 164; 165; 166; 167; 168; 169; 170;171; 172; 173; 174; 175; 176; 177; 178; 179; 180;181; 182;
If you have a good essay on one of these topics send it to me by email. If not, WRITE one and send it to me by email.
I will try to integrate as many as possible into the program.
If you think one of the sample essays is not any good, please send me a better one or a corrected version.

Finally, if you find a bug or have any suggestions to improve the program, let me know.

All you will have to do is download the attachment and unzip it. Open the index.html and you will find further instructions.

The zipfile contains the files to run the simulator and the official topic list from the toefl bulletin in pdf format.

I hope the simulator is helpful and I'd be happy to get some feedback on it.
Hi, i will be doing the Toefl by end oct and here is my first essay:
  • People attend school for many different reasons (for example, expand knowledge, social awareness and enhanced interpersonal relationships). Why do you think people decide to go to school? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

There are plenty of schools even in a small district, if taken for an example. Even in the United States, there may be hundreds of thousand schools. The question is why so many schools? The simple answer which any body gives is that there is an increasing demand for schools everyday. This implies the growing demand for schools. People can stay home rather than going to school and learn what ever they want by themselves. But the demand for schools is ever increasing and the question is why people attend schools?

From the child hood, we tend to associate ourselves with schools, first because we need to learn things in our lives in a proper manner. The belief in the society is that the schools train the children to behave in a proper manner in a society. The teachers train the students to face to a particular situations or to an incidents in there lives. People also tend to attend schools to gain knowledge. This has two aspects. First, gaining knowledge is important to live in a diversified society. In anthropological sense it is important to attend schools in order to associate peers and understand their choices in order to co-operatively live in a society.

Also gaining knowledge from a school is important to obtain a job or means to live the life. It is a prudent fact that if a person go to school and gain a proper knowledge and pass the examinations, can secure a good job. This is the lead perception in the society, which fascinates people to attend schools.

There are several kinds of schools. There are elementary to upper grade schools and vocational training schools and many other forms of schools. These various schools provide various courses allowing students to achieve there expectations. Therefore, people attend schools for their personal reasons motivated by the needs of the society. However, I think that people go to school first to obtain a proper formal education, to acquire knowledge and then to gain certification and training to secure a means of living.

Pls rate and advice

Do NOT post your email address or any other contact information in a post. No, we're not being anal here. The problem is that your information will be recorded by search engines, spiders, and spambots. We also don't like it when people join the forums just to add their email addresses to a list of people asking for email addresses. DON'T post your personal information here.
If you have questions about why you can't download this, please try searching the forums about downloading. This is a good thread to start with:

Can't download attachments?

I don't want to lock this thread, because it's a very useful one. Also, please don't ask people to email it to you in this thread. We don't mind if you PM people to ask for personal favors, but using a thread in the forum for personal things just dilutes the value of the thread.

I'm now going to delete the posts that add little to the thread, i.e., the 'thank you' posts and the 'how come I cannot download?' posts.
