I am a student at the Computer Science Faculty from the Polytechnic Institute Bucharest, Romania. If my school would receive a significant sum of money, I would invest it in a powerful cluster-based network. This new facility would provide a modern and advanced working environment for the students, constitute a potent research facility for students as well as teachers, even other faculties can benefit from this high-tech network and a close collaboration with foreign research centers.

 

First of all, a cluster-based network provides an exceptional working and learning environment for the students. A cluster is a group of processors connected by a high-speed link like SAN. It harvests the power of all of these machines and provides an optimum ground for parallel and distributed computing. Practically, this can expand the processing power exponentially. The students can learn the insights of this architecture and most of all how to use this processing facility. Furthermore the faculty can organize courses and train all of the Computer Science students. This training is necessary for the students because this will probably be the working environment after they graduate. The knowledge acquires from the cluster-based network will be seen in the performance yielded at their jobs.

 

Secondly, this network can provide an infinite possibility of research for teachers and students. In my country the faculty experiences a severe shortage of money therefore it concentrates its funds on the basic needs. The research is always left behind and all of us suffer from this. In this respect the cluster can make wonders. For instance a regular research project can have access to processing powers thousands of times bigger than by using a regular computer connected to the Internet. Following our teachers can pass from a theoretical research approach to a more practical and more important useful direction. The results obtained in this laboratory can replace a titanic work of several years.

 

Thirdly, not only the Computer Science faculty will benefit from this network, but also any other university. Nowadays many research areas use the computer and especially a network of computers. Think only at the DNA decoding or the race to find a cure for cancer. Therefore every realm requires more and more help from the computer. For instance in a cluster-based environment a mathematician can solve complex equations in a few minutes and a physician can simulate processes that may cost millions to experiment.

 

Finally, this cluster network will provide an equal level of discussion between our researchers and foreign western scientists. Furthermore many famous scientists can come to our country and share the experience of working with such state of the art tools. Who knows, maybe in this laboratory we will discover the next Nobel award winner. Romania desperately needs this step.

 

For all that I strongly believe that a cluster-based network will not only improve the learning process of my colleagues, but also the statute and fame of the faculty. Moreover other faculties and even our country can benefit from the advances brought in this wonderful facility.

Having received a gift of money, my school is still weighing carefully how to spend it for the best interest of the school and students. Most common way that the school used to adopt on managing the funds is to spend it on improving the infrastructure of school, such as the expensive equipment, labs, dormitories and library. But in my point of view, it is the wiser way to setup a foundation that can constantly provide financing support for various usages in our school.

 

By nature, foundation is a form of investment, and it’s proven to be an effective and practical way to make use of donations. Unlike spending all the money in one time or simply put them in bank, foundation is run by a carefully selective committee in order to gain much more money to make good use of them. It can receive donations, and moreover, we can put part of them to some good quality investment to accumulate more funds. Hence, we use money to make money, and gain more than we just spend it up right away.

 

One problem concerns me most, that is we used to spend the donation in building the basic infrastructure, and we do have a lot facilities already. Maintaining all these labs, building, dormitories and library becomes a huge economic burden to our school every year. Continue to build more construction or to buy more expensive equipment might augment the heavy financial burden that we already have, or might even confront us unexpected financial crisis. So when spending money might lead to potential financial problem, why don’t we wisely finance it in an investment way? Plus it can use to pay the cost of maintaining to relief the financial pressure.

 

Another merit of foundation is that we can make use money in more flexible way. We may setup a series of foundation to reward outstanding student, to fund faculties’ research, to pay for poor student’s tuitions, and so on. It will largely help our students and faculties who need financial support, and encourage them to strive for more academic achievement.

 

In short, foundation might bring more money to support the growing financial need of our school, and it comes with many merits. Again, to make the best use of this money, foundation is a good choice and maybe the most adequate one.

Hi all this is my second essay written so far, so please evaluate it so that I can see my weaknesses. As I see you all write pretty good ones. :)

 

If I were the principal of a school, I would have spent money to the scholarships for outstanding students that have not enough financial funds. There are many students who will bring great benefits to the university by their work and inventions, the only problem such students have is the lack of moneyfor their living expences and the education fee.

 

By making available free education for top-rank students the university may attract gifted students and improve it's brand name. In the country where I study, the private universities compete which each otherto get students scoring top points in the university entrance exams. These students generally have high point average while studying in the university and are accepted by top universities abroad to complete their further education.

 

I would also give some amount of money to contribute to the salaries of the school teachers and to attract the better ones from the outside. The level of education given in the shool is not less important than the studednts themselves. More experienced teachers will grow up better specialists in future and will help successfull students to magnify their talents. Our university has the professors working for large government companies, who are graduates mainly from the respected universities which are spelled world-wide. The students are also affected by their professors and go for study abroad.

 

Thanks to the success of our students and teachers, the university I study is the dream of every high school graduate. In my opinion each school or university should care more about it's students and teachers. So supplying more funds to the staff needs is the best solution for the question where to invest extra money.

My school received a gift of money. In my opinion, school should use that money to hire more teachers and buy new teching equipments.

 

With the number of students and classrooms are more and more increasing yearly, my shool is often met lack of teacher state because the current number of teachers

can't satisfy student's studying demand. Every teacher must take care many classes, and they have to work from five ours to eight hours each day, These lead teachers don't have

enough time to prepare lesson plan carefully so the quality of teaching are not perfect. Besides that, Because lack of teachers to do supply teaching, sometimes, teachers must teach subjects which are not in their speciality,

and students have to absent from school. That why, I think my school should invest money on hiring more techers, because it is very important things for our student's studying.

 

In the other hands, Improving and buying more teaching equipments are very neccesary to increase the quality of teaching. In my school, many students must use a same computer or share a same book in practical,

These will effect badly to student's studying so much, because they don't have many chances to use equipments for practising their skills.

 

That is the reasons why I believe my school should invest gift of money on hiring more teachers and buying new equipments for reducing difficulties of students and increasing the quality of teaching.
