As there is an ever-increasing demand in knowing the developments in our society, it is imperative that people should develop the habit to read and write regularly. Reading and writing plays an effective role in developing a person to communicate effectively with top-management engineers. Having said that, reading and writing should be inculcated as a hobby in each and every individual to meet the demands of the technological advancements. By reading, the individual gets to know latest information in his field of study and is in a position to analyse the benefits of a new technology which would help him enrich his technical knowledge. By browsing search engines like Google, he/she could develop skills technically as today's world is information technology oriented. With lots of small new devices being invented at reasonable prices, the individual should be aware of the latest developments in his area of study. Moreover, the individual should have the habit of reading newspapers daily and watching good English programmes like CNN,BBC,FOX ,etc. In this way,the person is aware of the latest news and he gets an opportunity to learn the style of different accents in different countries. So, when he/she is given a job in a country where the people speak in a different accent, he would cope up with that environment easily. It also improves our vocabulary and we would be in a position to understand new words. Although hand-written letters were one kind of communication which was being employed very frequently in the past, it was one way of improving the writing skills. As technology improved with electronic mails and cellphone messages, people tend to write less, especially in a formal manner. Only by writing, we could gather a lot of ideas and could express them in a way that the other person can understand. This skill should be developed at a young age so that the individual can cope up with the rapid changes taking place in our environment. To sum up, reading and writing should be made compulsory in school and college education and be made aware to all the individuals in our society.Taking the advantages like communication skill development, vocabulary building,etc. into account , we as individuals should make it a point to read and write regularly to improve our technical as well as general knowledge.
