Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in the present. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

I strongly disagree with the statement “Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in the present”. One should learn from past, live in present and plan for future. Past is nothing but experience. Experience is the only thing which remains with you forever.

Learning is a life long process. We keep learning from our mistakes. Children are always warned by their mother to be away from hot iron, gas etc. Many children have tendency to do the things they are warned about. Once they touch such hot thing and got heart, they learn from that experience and try to be away from it. When they start going to school they learn many things like, when they get punished for coming let they always try to be on time. In job one learns from his/ her past work and work more efficiently in new job. So, one with more experience can give more productive results. That’s why people with more work experience are always in demand and get paid better than the one who has got less experience. Learning from the past is the key to success. One who keeps learning from his past is always ahead of crowd.

People who overlook the past can never do progress. If you don’t know your mistake, how are you going to improve it? Take an example of a student, who failed in exam. If he never tries to find out and improve the reason of failure he is most certainly going to fail in next exam.

By learning from past we can have better present and future. Past experiences are the lifelong guide line for us. You should always try to learn from your past.

In my opinion, your paragraphs are so imbalanced because the first para in the body is kind of long and supports several examples, but the second one is relatively short compared with the first one. Anyway, no matter how long is the first para, you should write more for the second one.
