What I will bring to the trip (please read my essay)
Imagine that you are preparing for a trip. You plan to be away from your home for a year. In addition to clothing and personal care items, you can take one additional thing. What would you take and why? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
--- Going on trip, whatever it could be, camping, hiking or even going abroad on vacation, there are a lot of things we have to remember to prepare. Despite some stuff can be indispensable in one trip and absolutely useless in another being just burden to carry on, there is one thing I always bring with me. It is my old notepad. Indeed, it is quite important because contains inside myriad of vital information, can be used for writing and consists of the paper which also can be used in many ways. First of all, the word notepad assumes that it should contain notes. And it really does. Names, addresses, telephones, small maps, sketched out by hand and many other miscellaneous stuff is inside. Being not able to keep all this information in my head, I must always have an access to get it from somewhere. Last summer I went on trip to Mexico in order to visit a friend of mine, Bud. At the airport my cell phone was stolen and I didn't know how to call Bud, without his number. Fortunately, there was a copy of phonebook in my notepad and I was able to figure out Bud's number and contact him. Another time I have lost my passport being a tourist in San Francisco. Thankfully, the embassy helped me to get it over with after I gave them the number of my passport, which was also written in my notepad. Therefore, the information my notepad contains can be sometime really of tremendous value if various of contingency cases. Secondly, being on tour, I can always use my notepad for writing. My major is mathematics and hence I am supposed to make variety of calculation, which necessitates writing myriad of equations, formulas and numbers on the paper. Sitting for couple of hours in the convenient seat of the airplane or having the break during climbing the mountain, I can always get out my notepad and start doing my research work or trying to prove theorem. There is no way to determine when the inspiration will come to me, but when it does, I will always have ready my notepad to save such important thoughts I could otherwise forget later. Apparently, having my notepad among other items in the purse, will allow me to make notes whenever and wherever I want. Finally, being a big fan of origami, I can use the paper from my notepad any time to create amazing figures. In time of stress or when I feel nervous about something, I just tear an empty page from my notepad and start making geese, chinese swans, bears or another animals. Last time, in company of my friends, waiting for the train on the station, I proposed to organize competition who could make the best airplane from the piece of paper from my notepad. Instead of being bored, we spent nice time. From this point, always bringing notepad for me means having favorite hobby at hand and treatment from stress and boredom. Therefore, every time I am going somewhere for a trip, I always put my notepad in the bag. It contains important information I can need when a contingency arises, it can be used to make notes in any moment and it also provides me with blank paper I use for my favorite hobby. |

Hello my russian friend. Here is my version of view on this question.
Going on a trip, wherever it may be, camping, hiking or even going abroad on vacation, there are a lot of things we have to remember to prepare. I will take a laptop. Why? Because a laptop is a multifunction device. Today every person in our society wants to use new technologies all of the time. Using things like laptops with modern technical services, people can feel comfortable everywhere. For example, technology like WIFI can help me to spend boring time on a train or train station. Last month, I visited my grandparents in the Western part of Russia. When I arrived at the train station, all tickets were sold and I had to spend about six hours at night in a waiting room. It was terrible, because I didn't know what to do for six hours, but I remembered that I had a laptop with me. I connected to a free WIFI Internet spot and started to talk with my friends online, read news, and tried to find some fun Internet blogs. I can't remember how my long hours disappeared. Another excellent virtue of a laptop is that the device might be a notebook. I can store all phone numbers, addresses of my friends in a notebook. I can’t keep all this information in my mind. Also, when I’m far away from my home, I can write all ideas, impressions of travelling. This summer I had a one month military course in the Rostov region, in the Southern part of Russia. Our military air group was located near the Azov sea and at the weekend I had some free time to relax near the water. I took a lot of photos and wrote a diary, day by day. All of my feelings of the Russian army and local conditions were stored in my laptop. But travelling with a laptop has several minuses. Laptops need care, for example they can be easily stolen in airport from your bag. It’s also important not to damage it when you are in a crowd. In conclusion, I would like to say, for anyone going on a trip, they should always put their laptop in their bag. Last edited by strizhov : 09-10-2008 at 06:58 PM. |

Quite nice essay! Nevertheless, you can write a little bit more which will add some extra score to your essay.

Instead of pointing its flaws, you would better write one more paragraph about how you could use your laptop somehow else.) In conclusion, I would like to say, for anyone going on a trip, they should always put their laptop in their bag. |
