Please comment on my essay. "The quality of being a good boss".
Thanks a lot. The word in red may be wrong and i hope you could correct it.
TOPIC What are some important qualities of a good supervisor (boss)? Use specific details and examples to explain why these qualities are important. As the leader of a company or a government, the character of the supervisor to a large extent determines the achievement of his group. There are many requirements for a qualified supervisor. Among them, I think two qualities are very important: a clear understanding of the employees and the ability of unifying the employees. A good boss should have a clear understanding of their stuff, which helps the boss know the advantages and the disadvantages of the employees. Then, the boss could arrange the jobs according to the stuff’s specialty. Thus, the potential of employees is greatly motivated and as a result the efficiency of company would increase. To illustrate my view, I use a friend of mine as an example, who is inadequate in communication but very capable in technical job. When he took his first job, his boss assigned him to do the job like sales. Obviously, my friend found that he could not fit for the job and finally left that company. In the next company, the boss had a deep understanding about him during the interview and let him work in the technical section. In his new career, my friend’s capacity was fully developed and made great contribution to his company. This example informs us that a boss need not be very excellent in certain areas, but he should know which employee could do well in these areas and then offer chances to the appropriate one. A good boss should also know how to unify his employees and form a solid group. Firstly, in today’s society where we have to confront the more complicated tasks, the achievements are more and more depending on cooperation, that is, team work. Secondly, if the employees are in the state of disunity, they have to allocate most their energy for dealing with personal relationship and could not concentrate on their jobs. A company like this would accomplish little and be finally eliminated in the competition. This is clearly evident in the survey of the Chinese company and Japanese company. Surveyors find that the educational background and the ability of the stuff in the two companies are almost identical, but the Japanese company is usually more efficient. Why? The surveyors finally find out that the Japanese boss emphasizes the unity of his stuff and often instills the conception of teamwork while the Chinese boss often neglects this point. In sum, a qualified boss should learn how to appoint his employees and how to unite his employees. For the boss is like a general, a powerful general could transform a group of cowards into a study army, while a weak general would destined lose the battle no matter how strong his soldiers are. |
