Transferring to UCLA or Stanford from Community College
*Sorry for such a long question, please bare with me!*
Hi guys, I'm sorry if there are plenty of threads like this but I tried looking around and searching but didn't really find anything matching my request. And I'm sorry if this is the wrong section as well, as you can tell I JUST registered haha. ----------------------------------------------- Anyways, I have just started my first year in my Santa Monica Community College. I am so far only taking three classes at my own fault (Intro to Psychology, Macroeconomics 2, Spanish 2) with only 11 credits this quarter. I know I am not in such a good start for this quarter but I'm planning to make it up in the future! Santa Monica is known for #1 transfer rate to UCLA and considered one of the best Community Colleges in California, so I am hoping for legs up on that regarding my transfer. Putting aside the brag about the college haha, I just wanted to know every detail that you guys could possibly give in increasing my chances of transferring to UCLA or Stanford preferably, with my major most likely being Biopsychology (a question I'd also like to ask is, would it be better to stick with my major this way or go undeclared?). My plans for transferring is at least a 3.7-3.8 GPA, community service in a local hospital (not really sure on the information, soon to find out from my sister who will be working with me), possibly a cabinet officer, and form a dance club (president) and make fundraiser to donate money to other less fortunate countries. The thing is, I don't have the confidence to make a club this year (due November) nor run for a cabinet officer, since I feel like a little boy in this school haha so I was thinking maybe next year, if it's not too late. But to reach my goal, I'd do anything, so if you guys can tell me that it's needed for me to run for officer and make a club THIS year, then by all means I'm down for it. Those are the things I had in mind, but all the other extra details would be greatly appreciated! My number one goal is Stanford not for myself but for my parents (long sob story behind it which I won't get into haha) and second alternative would be UCLA since my sister attends there as well. If I need to do my plans and other necessities as well for Stanford, please do tell me. If I don't for UCLA, then do tell me as well! Thank you guys so much for reading, sorry that the question was so long! I just wanted to make it pretty detailed haha. Thanks again! |

I transferred from an out-of-state 4-year university into UCLA in 2005. Without any extra-curricular activities and crappy personal statement, I am sure they cared only my 3.95 GPA.
Based on this experience, I would say just study as hard as you can to get perfect grades, and that should do. |
