Jenny, "Wash" isn't really "under-respresented." Lowell, Lincoln, and Washington are considered the top public schools in San Francisco.
So Jenny, where did you get in?? Please let us know!! (I especially want to know!!) |

I'm wondering, is this a message board for a certain area or school?
I've also got into UCSD. Now it's just a matter of waiting for UCB. I was wondering it there really is a better college to end up in when you choose to go to UCSD or it's just the requirements they require? |

Lowell is by far the best school in SF. I think when I was there, the largest number went to Davis. Second on the list was Berkeley. I think everyone in my calculus class got into berkeley..... except me of course, I went to davis.

About the Davis thing, I don't know. Well, Davis and Berkeley are close by, and so is Santa Cruz. Stereotypically Asian parents like having their kids close by. But Santa Cruz has a rep for being a party school. So I'm not sure how happy some parents are about that. And not everyone can get into Berkeley, so I understand why so many people go to Davis. Graduate Admission
I've been admitted to the PhD program in Chemical & Environmental Engineering at UC Riverside. I've been offered the Dean's Distinguished Fellowship, as per which all tution has been waived off, and I'll be getting approximately $23,000/year through stipends/TA/RA. It's the place I'm most likely to go, with a waitlist from Purdue which is least expected to change to an admit, and TAMU the only remaining university I'm waiting for. Has anyone got into UC Riverside? Last edited by popasud : 03-26-2006 at 05:05 PM. |

Jess' Final UC Update!!!
Accepted: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego Rejected: UC Los Angeles, UC Berkeley aw..... sadness... well, I didn't expect to get into Berkeley anyway. Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to say "UC Los Angeles"?... I'm more used to saying "UCLA"... and UC Berkeley is "Cal"... UC San Diego is "UCSD"... maybe I'm just being weird...

I am sorry to hear that. My son was rejected from U. of Chicago today. Where do you plan to go? We are still waiting for other schools as well. Do you visit the universities that you has been admitted? SCU, UCSD, UCI, UCD all of them have good reputation.
Which faculty do you plan to pursue your study? I went to UCSD. The weather and environment were great. We plan to visit U of IL-Urbana Champaign tomorrow. We don't know which one is better between U of IL -Urbana-Champaign and U of Wisconsin-Madison. Here is ranking for 2005: http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2005/ARWU2005TOP500list.htm Quote:
That's why my son doesn't hurt that much to be another one being on the wait list. Most of his friends have ACT score higher than 32. I think that someone from his school was admitted but he hasn't known. What surprises me is that another friend of his with GPA 4.9 and ACT = 34 or 35 (cannot remember) was declined from Washington university. He was sure that he could get in so he applied only 2 universities, Washington Universities and Northwestern University. I hope that he can get in Northwestern. So sad for him. ![]()
