UC Davis Hopeful
Hey,
I was just wondering if anyone has an idea if I would get in to UC Davis or Santa Barbara. I have a 4.2 GPA but I only got a 1730 on the SATS. Im involved in Track and alot of other clubs. Do I have a chance? Thanks for the help and any advice is appreciated |

Hey,
You should be in good standing but maybe you should think about taking the test one more time. If you're a senior, you can take the SATs up until December for all of the UCs and most of the other 4-year universities. |

Davis' transfer admissions are fairly liberal. Its tough to get in as a frosh, but for whatever reason a lot wash out. Even if you don't make it to UCD, just go to UCR or UCSB and transfer with a 4.0 after your first year. I have no idea why because honestly it is not that difficult unless you skip about 80% of class or are not very sharp.
Just so you're warned: I liked Davis a lot academically, and there were a few good things (most notably, the many cheap and delicious eateries within a 2 mile radius of the school) other than academics, but socially it was lame. Maybe if you belonged to an asian frat or sorority it would be fun, but generally its pretty weak - either the degenerate drug crowd or the WoW freaks. No decent bars, no decent clubs, few non-degenerate parties. The weather was awful too. |
