Any one applying to Aussie univ for MS in ECE or CS ?

hi,

i had applied to one australian university for phd in biological sceinces.....got the offer but without aid....so i have kept my options open.....the offer lettter says i need to accept the offer but can join anytime as phd students donot have any strict schelude, so i m waiting for other scholarships/awards.........what about u?????

Can you tell the last date / deadlines in general for July session.
Does the application ask for any specific test,such as IELTS ?

hi awhig, it's my pleasure........

i don't know which course/program you are interested in??? See, i applied for PhD and as far as i know there is no deadline for applying for phd programs as they can be started any time around the year........but if u are applying for phd with aid, then you ought to apply for IPRS (international postgraduate research scholarship) and unviersity scholarship for inl't studnets which are highly competitive (only 6 intl applicants got in the university, where I applied- which includes from all disciplines)...........

but if u are interested in Computer Sceince or any other engineering or management course then there are three intakes (if i am correct-confirm with international admission office)......they are starting in DEC-JAN/MARCH-APRIL/SEPTEMBER....and if you are international student, one has to start the application process before a year (if, aid required) and six months (without aid).........so, if you want to gain admission in september intake start your applicaiton process now (without aid) and if you are looking for aid apply now for next spetember......the last date for IPRS is mostly july-august 31st............

now regarding the IELTS/toefl, if you have been educated in english medium for considerable years (12-15yrs) then u donot have to give for applicaiton, but u need IELTS for visa......but if u have given toefl then it doesnot matter, they consider toefl also........

I am interested for CS and EE combination. To be precise, I was interviewed by the HOD of Elec and Comp Sc. , of RMIT. He agrees to give me conditional admit due to non availability of TOEFL scores at then. Since then I haven't recieved a single reply from RMIT people on this. I have sent my TOEFL score to them.

Did you face any such similar exp. ?
I heard IELTS is mandatory. Secondly for PhD they don't take a BTech guy directly as is the case with US. I presume that you are already done with your Masters.
Can I know your stream.

u should mail the HOD regarding the scores (sent the scanned copy of ur personal score report, if urgent)........
yep, i am done with my masters (life sceinces) .....on a look-out for a phd with aid........ya, some universities are really very fussy about IELTS....other not....my fren got in melborne without toefl/IELTS.....so depends on university and, ofcourse, HIS grace..........

ya!!!!!! lucky gal......well i was not lucky enough.......missed the deadline for IPRS and was not competent enough for university scholarships.......i applied in october, i guess......status of my application is admitted, can join any time of the year, without aid.......so, i have asked prof to look for aid if any and i am also on a hunt for some sort of aid; atleast to support my tuition fees........
