Information on VISA

I just signed up and I'm really curious on how to get into the US on a visa or permit. It's a long a story, but to make a long story short, I have an ex-fiancee living in the US, who is pregnant, and I'm in Canada, working. I want to work in the US and be near my child.

How would I go about this or what should I do?

If this is the wrong place for it because I see a lot of University stuff going on, can you please direct me to a place where I can get this information.

Since you are a Canadian, there are no problems . the restriction with neighbouring countries is far less than other in't nations.
