Thande
Does anyone know whether dependants of F1 visa holders (F2) are allowed to do volunteer work i.e. take up assignments that do not give any remuneration? Do the rules state that you cannot work at all or you cannot work for a salary? Thanks!
Tino
Yes and no. If it is really 100% volunteer work, then yes. Example: helping at the animal shelter, feeding the homeless, etc.... However, it is no for things like internships or other forms of work where there is compensation, just not in the form of pay. Example: child-care in exchange for free rent.
