Hi all,
First of all, I just want to thank everyone in this forum for constantly providing such invaluable tips like how to study for the GRE, GMAT, visa issues etc.
I am an international student currently residing in CA. Right now, I am on my Practical Training which will be expiring on 10.30.2003. I have applied to several Grad Schools for the Spring Semester. So I planned to wait for my acceptance(or denial) letter which will arrive sometime by Mid Nov. And after that, I like to go back to my home country for 2 months and and apply for a new F-1 visa stamp to enter US in Spring 2004 for my Graduate studies.
My questions are:

1. Since I have stayed here on my practical trianing status, is it going to affect my application for another F-1 visa?

2. My Practical training expired on 10.30.2003. But the school officials told me that I have another 60 days(from the expiration date) to pack up and leave, and if I leave the US within that 60 days, I am still considered to be in-status and have not violated with any immigration laws. Is that true?
And will that affect my visa application since the Embassy Immigration people sees on my passport that I have stayed over my Practical training period(10.30.03)??

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Sam.
I would be happy if I am of any help. I 've read a lol immigration staffs.
1. I do not think your practical status will affect a new F-1 since you dont change the matter of your stay in the USA.
2. - Your school advisor is absolutely right. You can stay legally 60 days beyond the dead end of your F-1. You can ask any Immigration attorney. He will tell you the same. The same goes for J-1 holders but the period is 30 days.

ActuallyI do not think that there's anything in your case that would bother you.
I wish my case was a little bit easier. Anyway, hope I was of a help,Sam.
Good luck.
