hey ppl,
i know itz a silly question ...but wantd to know !what is the period of an F1 visa(student)....will it b possible to extend the duration of stay in US after graduation(after visa expiration) [OR] should v hav to get our vis re-issued frm the scrap ?? help me guyz ! I also heard tht Visa officers in India reject candidates app'ing to some specified univs in US due to some (crap)reasons. Is this true ? If so, y is tht so...it sounds very eccentric !!??!! As far as I know, the duration of the F1 visa is of 5 years in case of Ph.D. because this is the normal duration of a Ph.D.. I think the validity of the visa generally depends on the length of study in the US.
I heard that after the Ph.D. one can stay for another year, working in the US. I don't exactly know how the visa will be renewed at that moment or if there are any special requirements in order to do this. However, right now I think we should rather worry about getting in at the right university and obtaining the initial visa. Laura |
