I changed my dependent visa to F1 visa last year in usa. It usually takes 90 to 120 days as per their legal notice. I took F1 visa in less than 60 days even. I didnt go back to India yet for stamping because of risk factor so dont know about it.
Anyways, All the best! -Meha S. Quote:

It really does not take time for the stamping.....you will have to make an appointment through TT Services and go to the Consulate for an interview. The procedure also varies from Consulate to Colsulate....as far as I know In Mumbai they take all your papers and then assign a time when you can go....in Chennai too I think you need to send your papers first......I have not reallly kept myself upto date so why dont u check out the website for the consulate you'll go to? I think that would be the best place to find information.....that was where I used to get all my informations before I came to the US.

Hi Sweta,
No you dont need visa stamp , for continue your study as fulltime F1 student and work 20hrs a week. You can changed it within usa as "change of status" procedure. Yeah whenever you leave this country , you need to get stamp from your home country if you want to re-entre in usa. Otherwise you have a same status as other F1 student have. Hope this helps! Meha. |

Yes , You can! Just whenever you leave this country your F1 visa and whatever visa you have right now, both will cancelled! you need to get new visa with stamp at that time. That is only a "big" risk factor of it.

hi
i am planning for a change of statu from h4 to f1.i know the risk of getting f1 stamped onto the passport in india so I decided to stay back until I complete my studies.my doubt is whether opt is given to F1 holder without having it stamped onto the passport in india. thankyou |
