How to inform the university about the recommender's standing?

    Hi,

This might sound like a silly query but I thought I will be post it anyway.

I come from India and currently in the process of applying to the universities for MS in Computer Science.

My recommenders will be providing a paper recommendation to the universities. When I went through the format of the recommendation I realized that it doesn't query the recommender about the credentials.

My question is how does the university know about the good stead of the recommender?

Example : One of my Professors is a PhD from University of Michigan Ann Arbor but unless she mentions this explicitly this will be unknown to the university.
    Knowing is better than wondering

well, normally the recommender will add his/her title and relationship to you. and it's also your job to tell him/her to do so. at least ask your recommender to put the business card in the envelop with the letter.

i think its good to mention your relationship with your recommender and briefly mention where he was from.

Or , you could squeeze his credentials into the referee section (under title)
