What do you guys think about including an extended abstract (~2200 words, 4 pages with plots/tables) as the writing sample that is optional on some applications? I submitted this extended abstract to a conference at which I was then accepted to present, all of which is mentioned in my SOP. It's a pretty cool topic I think, I analyzed the behavior of contestants on a popular trivia game show. And since it is pretty short, with some interesting and eye-catching figures, someone may actually read/skim it.

However, my issue is that there is no full version of the paper. I'm sure that anyone that looks at it will wonder why I submitted an extended abstract and not the full paper.

I wouldn't submit it, most econ programs don't require writing samples and since its unfinished, it might send a bad signal.
That being said, if you do choose to submit it, address why you chose to submit it in your SOP
