Based on what I have read here in the past, I think you'll need to get that GRE up in order to attend a decent MA program in Canada. I am sure someone, maybe with personal insight, will chime in. Good luck in selecting a school!

All of the second tier MA programs in Canada should be attainable for you.

Never heard of York University. But those Universities I have listed have some decent MA programs. Be sure to ACE EVERYTHING though, because since they are second tier schools, the quality of the students there tend to be second tier as well and you have to destroy them (academically) in order to get some good recommendations.

hi shaks. im actually doing my undergrad at york now. ba econ honours. I dont think you would want to go to yorku for masters. i dont even have plans to apply for yorku. if you're looking for a university near downtown, i dont think york's a good place. its in the middle of nowhere. if you live on campus, its boring too.
although, they have been hiring new professors from princeton and some american universities, personally, i don't recommend the program there. that's just my opinion.
i heard york is a second tier school too, especially theyr econ department. im not sure about the department's strength. professors wise, they're awesome. they're very friendly and approachable.
diversity wise, the school's very diverse. well, it's toronto.
also, york's a fashion school. haha. you have to dress up all the time. lot's of nice girls too. ;-)

In my opinion you have a great profile. However, you should improve your GRE Quant Score because it is a big indicator to the adcom about your analytical skills.

Good Luck my Man

Thanks a lot to Olm, flipecon, ecophp06.

I am in the last semester of my MBA program (university of Mumbai calls it MMS). I am also in the placement committee. Have colloge from 9 in the morning to 9 in the night, 6 days a week. So giving a Gre attempt with proper preparation till april end is not possible.

even for this Gre attempt i just saw the format of the test the night before and went for the test in the morning. I had to finish it before 31 jan to be eligible to apply for the top 5 schools in canada. But i realise now that my quant score is lacking.

regarding my profile, both in my bachelors and masters i have specialised in finance. for over a year before my masters i was working as a financial analyst in a firm doing doing company analysis of companies listed on the Bombay stock exchange.

So given my profile and the fact that i cant give another Gre attempt my options as pointed out by olm are McMaster, McGill, Calgary, Alberta, Concordia, Simon Fraser and york. if there are any other please mention.

also what parameters do i look in for before i decide. i am following the ecophd.com rankings.

and finally how long does it take for the gre and toefl scores to come out.

Thanks in advance.
highly obliged to whoever replied uptill now.
