I have heard that bc started to send admits. But I am not sure if this is a hundred percent true. Does anybody know something about this issue?

The grad secretary told me that the decisions will be released soon... She told me that I should wait next week for a decision...

I also look at grad cafe and saw that BC will send the admits very soon...

I don't have a hope to get an admit from BC however I think that I bought a lottery ticket :D

Fingers crossed

BC sends emails with admissions and waitlists. Rejections come by mail after April 15. At least this is what they did in last two years.

it's all on grad cafe (http://thegradcafe.com)
just search for the particular school and then look at the "decision&date" column

Apparently, a bunch of people have already been rejected from Cornell: cornell economics — Grad School Admissions Results for 2006–2008 • thegradcafe.com (http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=cornell+economics&t=m&o=)

Scary :(

I figure out there are not too many. Boston College has a reputation for funding most (all?) their econ doctoral students and taking care of them throughout all five years. Their program is reputedly really small.

:hmm:

Best of lucks with BC. Just don't hold your breath. The "Jesuit Ivy" likes to stand by its name ;) It is NOT easy to get in, that's for sure.

IMHO, it is the most competitive econ-doctoral admission of the 30-50 rank (and please don't get me started by saying that Duke and Caltech are not ranked 15-25, because they are, no matter what econphd.net tells me)

cheers,
AT

Sorry, Filroz pal :(
I have been researching this kind of info for 2 years now, gathering an enormous amount of info for a lot of programs worldwide (no, not really....just Europe and the US). I have had informants from all over the world.

One of my Cambridge MA contacts provided a huge bunch of info, including the high competitiveness of Boston College. The reason why it's so competitive has to do with it being a small, selective program, where everybody is funded, and faculty are seemingly very supportive of their students.

Hope you get in....wishing the best to everybody

PS: Now that I think of it, I should have located informants at admissions offices, rather than among doctoral students. :)

Thanks for your detailed introduction, BC has a good faculty of econometrics, and are there any other research directions that is also competitive ?

which is really great... you have to stay in state of depressing uncertainty for another couple of days...:yuck:
anyway, if all the acceptances are sent by Friday, then it would be obvious anyway, but only thanks to econphp06 (http://www.urch.com/forums/../members/econphp06.html), who called there
