Hello my dear fellow TMers. I would like to do a recap of those who got waitlisted by Minnesota. If you got the email you noticed that it says "short". So, by counting those TMers who got it maybe we can estimate the total number of individuals in that list. Please post here if you got waitlisted. Thanks and good luck to us all.

Waitlisted.

The question that needs asking is what percentage of the applicant pool consists of TM'ers, and are these two populations comparable.

Thanks. Sure, I never said anything about the way of estimating the list. Great suggestion.

A couple of years ago two of my friends were waitlisted. No one was offered admission in the end, but good luck to you anyways.

I did not get any email today.. so I guess I am out.

anyway.. my feeling is that they know that most of view are likely to get offers from other places, so by putting you on an "early" wait list, they try to apply some principle of natural selection.. the strongest survives.. eheeh

in 2-3 weeks people will starting withdrawing because of offers from NYU, Yale, Chicago, Princeton, Business Schools etc..

Exactly.

Those of you on the waitlist: either hope that you get into another school that is similarly ranked or better, or hope that other people that have been accepted/waitlisted take better/other offers to bring you up the list.

Do we know anything about the size of admit/wait - lists from previous years? I mean, at NYU it seems pretty clear that its 30 admits for 20 spots... no official waitlist.

Maybe some semi-god Minnesotian can enlighten us...

In my opinion they offer to more than 40 people for an average enrollment of 20-5. with this trick called "early wait list" they can pretend to have an higher attrition rate.

I would say that those on the waiting list should certainly wait all the way until April 15th before signing their decisions with other schools, while at the same time keeping their UMN aspirations low. Yep, you still have to live 8 more weeks in agony.

Just wondering: any news on the waitlist of UMN so far?

I took myself off of it about a week ago.
