well its not the formal offer, they said thats in the mail, but it was an email with all the details.
theses are the details:
$22,000 for 9 months over 4 years.
first year $7000 summer stipend and after that $4000 for the next three summers.
one-time $1000 for initial expenses.
health and tuition
2.5 years pure fellowship, 1.5 years TA or RA.
first year subsidized housing in manhattan (which means it will cost me $1000 in rent a month instead of $100000000 a month)

How cool! Now, NYU Stern, please take me with you, and don't make me regret I did not apply to Econ at the GSAS :wallbash:

Wow! I didn't know that schools in expensive cities offered this much aid.

Congrats!

actually, the funny thing is that in the letter they wrote me they said that if i come to nyu i will have the experience of learning from Ariel Rubinstein who will teach a first year course next year, but, he teaches the same course in my university (now you can figure out which university i go to now), so learning from him is actually not that great an incentive to go half way around the world. not only that i can already see the course now if i want because his lectures from last year were recorded on video and they are on my university's server. i thought that was funny.

WOW! Your offer looks great!! Congrats!

@Rubinstein: I visited one of his public lectures once on "economics of persuasion.. or so" sorry i forgot the precise title. It was awesome and he seems to be extremely good and I enjoyed it a lot. So congrats to those admitted to NYU! Micro will probably be a highlight!

I did my first MSc in Business (German diploma) at a German business school (strict focus on finance) and am now finishing my second MSc at LSE (Econometrics & Mathematical Economics). In total: six years for both MSc degrees. I spent exchange semesters and/or research visits at another German university as well as in France (one at the best political science department, one at a top 5 business school) and USA (one at a top 25 or so business school, one at a top 5 econ department).

Got a (more) formal offer also -- about 6K less than israelecon over the life of the degree...I can live with that ;)

Chicunomics, I got exactly the same offer. What is your ratio fellowship vs. RA/TA?

Sounds great. Now after your admission to NYU it may sound a little odd but have you also considerd IZA Bonn? I've heard that their doctoral stream is excellent and has good cooperation wth Universities in the CentER network (Carlos III, Tilburg...)

I am a Research Affiliate at the IZA and spend almost all my free time there. I definitely wanted to go to the US, which is why I did the LSE MSc (I had an offer from, say, Oxford after my German diploma).

Yeah I anticipated this would be the case, I didn't want to give too much info in case you didn't want to ;-)

1.5/2.5 Fellowship/RA-TA...Edit: just realised israel's ratio is different too...man that's a hot looking offer for him!

I was just hit by a wave of pessimism and despair a moment ago. My mood is all over the place. I didn't get into my first choice for undergrad back in the day. But back then I applied to a lot of safeties. This time I went for broke. Things aren't looking good.

Oh boy! Come on ! Everything will be fine!
It's so funny: It doesn't matter actually what a specific thread is about (I guess it could actually be even soccer) after approximately 30 posts there is always someone who states that he/she is extremely frustrated because of this whole process. Don't worry too much. Try to have some fun and do something to distract your attention from your mailbox towards something more productive.

Things haven't even begun to look anything at all yet... its too early in the game.

I have known countless applicants that get in their dream school in April!!! Waitlists run like wild because everyone is already somewhere else, and you never know what can happen.

ejem....I am beggining to think it'll be great to meet Israelecon at NYU.....a math wizard, with super-fellowship. People at adcoms know why they do this kind of stuff. This lady must be a genius. :)

Congrats on the super offer!!

Just got my formal offer too. A little bit less than Isrealecon, but still fine by me. I think the summer thing is the part that is individualized. I just got 4k instead of 7. By the way, after looking at Isrealecon's profile, he/she shouldn't need to worry about the details of this fellowship as I am sure MIT will be getting in touch with him/her shortly. :)
