Hi everyone,

I am planning to take the TOEFL ibt and I just want to ask - from those who have gone through this step:

Is there still a need to take the TSE after taking the TOEFL ibt or is the speaking section of TOEFL a substitute for TSE?Thanks .

Hi
The language requirment for FPGE Certifcate was CBT( computer base test of toefl) + tse or paper test + tse now at USA there is only ibt with all sections at one exam with 26 for speaking and 24 writing. I had 230 on cbt but never not more than 45 at TSE ( REQUIRED 50 WHICH WAS ONE STEP AS THE SCORE WAS IN MULTIPLE OF FIVE IE 30,35,40,45 AND 50
The NABP now waived the time limit for TOEFL as as the result was reported to them ,the ETS CANN'T REPORT RESULTS MORE THAN TWO YEARS OLD so things a little bit soft. Atthat time when I was struggling to get my license during 2005, 2006, and 2006 and 2007 Florida was accepting 45 at TSE and michigan don't ask for tse even after ibt Michigan ask only for a total ( may be 89) TILL June 2007. NOW ALL STATES REQUIRE CERTRIFCATION OF FPGEE which means the language as required by NABP

Thank you all for replying to my inquiry: ' TOEFL/Tse- which does FPGEE require ?'
I presume from all I have read that all I need to take is the Toefl ibt and this suffices. If this is a 'yes' please confirm. I am just trying to dot my i's and cross my t's.
Many thanks.:)

Hi Topsy,
To answer your question directly. Once you take the TOEFL IBT you don't have to sit for TSE again, it's as simple as that. This is because the old computer toefl does not have speaking hence the need for TSE, that has been taking care in the new TOEFL iBT.

Good luck.
