Financial aid from university -good or bad??

All the colleges that I'm familiar with state that admissions decisions are made "need-blind", meaning they base their decision on the merit of your application, not on your ability to pay.

 

That said, lack of funding to pursue your education should not appear in your applications essays. That's just not the place for it to be. Try to find other sources of financial aid while you're applying. If you're in the US and are a resident, there are many programs to help with college, including grants, financial aid, loans, scholarships, and the like.
