Video Game Industry

The following questions are based on this paragraph:

The video game industry has enjoyed a “golden-age” in the recent decade. However, many expert say that this prime time for video games might soon be over.

A few years ago, the number of video game companies was large, and they all attempted to create thrilling and entertaining games using innovative technologies and ideas. Increased competition between game manufacturers led to better games at competitively lower prices, making the video game a primary form of entertainment in the modern home.

However, the recent economic turmoil led to the foreclosure of an unparalleled number of game designer companies including companies of highly popular games. Gamers worry that the decreased competition and lower number of companies in the field will result in less innovation, higher prices, and games that are less fun overall. Developments in gaming might be reaching a standstill as a lot of highly anticipated recent games proved to be disappointing compared to their past incarnations, and a lot of games are simply recycled versions of other games. Gamers are very unhappy about this development.

A. Gamers are unhappy

B. Recent games are recycled versions of older games

C. There is not enough competition to entice innovation

D. There is too much competition in the field
