vishalchaudhury
Which is correct? Please justify your answers as well. That must be him. or That must be he. No one could be as happy as I or No one could be as happy as me My father is still taller than she or My father is still taller than her. No one in this class has done the homework but me or No one in this class has done the homework but I.
IMTHERE
QUOTE=vishalchaudhury;850672]Which is correct? Please justify your answers as well. Concept of Subject and Object. That must be him. Subject is "that" and object is "him" or That must be he. No one could be as happy as I or No one could be as happy as me (subject is "No one" and object is "me") My father is still taller than she or My father is still taller than her. (Subject is "Father" and object is "her") No one in this class has done the homework but me (Subject is "No one" and object is "me") or No one in this class has done the homework but I. chilledlife
That must be him. - Correct or That must be he. I think he is used as a subject and him is used as an object. ie start a sentence with he and when referring to a person use him. My guess is 'that must be him' is correct. No one could be as happy as I or No one could be as happy as me - Correct. Same reason. My father is still taller than she or My father is still taller than her. - Correct No one in this class has done the homework but me - Correct or No one in this class has done the homework but I. akrish1982
No one could be as happy as me No one could be as happy as I No one could be as happy as I am - this sounds the best. I dont understand why I would be the object here... My understanding of object is SVO (Subject-Verb-Object) . Subject does something (as said by VERB), object recieves it. example: that(S) must be (V) him (O) here, him seems to be the object. but in No one could be as happy as I - there does not seem to be a object. please feel free to correct me. I am unable to answer the last one: No one in this class has done the homework but me or No one in this class has done the homework but I. My father is still taller than she or My father is still taller than her. - Correct
