    C is the best answer

C comes close but 'that' after nations is making it vulnerable.

guys.. how can relations between nations?? shouldn't that be relations among nations??

    well, IMO B is correct.

Between is used only for 2 entities.. relation between X and Y.. relations among Xs and Ys

    (A) relations between nations that illustrates
    (B) relation of one nation with another that illustrates = Correct, Singular relation and singular verb illustrates

    (C) relations between nations that illustrate
    (D) relation of one nation with another and illustrate (should be singular)
    (E) relations of nations that illustrates (should be plural)

The subject of the verb "illustrate" is "episodes" so that leaves only options C & D. D has the unnecessary "and" so the best option is C.

Relation is always between 2 nations.
(btit) Even if we are talking of many nations, we are also talking about many relations and EACH RELATION BETWEEN 2 NATIONS.
    Hence, relationS between nations

"episodes" is the subject for verb "illustrate"

    C is the right choice
