poefin
Answer given D 21. MIRTH: LAUGHTER:: A. uncertainty : nod B. approval : applause C. danger : alarm D. labor : sweat E. love : respect Answer given B Laughter is how you show that you feel mirth. Applause is how you show that you approve. 15.EMBARRASS : SHAME :: A. coax : reluctance B. sleep : fatigue C. doubt : uncertainty D. belittle : condescension E. console : comfort Answer given is E. 17. ENTHUSIASM: MANIA:: A. idea : inspiration B. nightmare : hallucination C. failure : disgust D. suspicion : paranoia E. energy : fitness Answer given D Both of these are questions of degree. Mania is extreme enthusiam. Shame is a lot of embarrassment. 49.ILLITERACY : EDUCATION :: A. bureaucracy :clarification B. oppression : agreement C. vagrancy : travel D. inequity : redistribution E. inclemency : evasion For this one....Education is supposed to fix illiteracy? mac
Hi my gre is in 15 days please tell me whats the best way to prepare for analogies.. Plz help me with the following analogies in identifying the bridge . The are from barrons Snicker : Disrepect :: chortle :glee Scales :justice :: torch :Liberty Alarm:trigger :: trap: spring Range:mountains :: string :beads plz help A snicker is a sign of disrespect. A chortle is a sign of glee. Scales are the symbol of justice. A torch is the symbold of liberty. When you trigger an alarm, you set it off. When you spring a trap, you set it off. A range of mountains are mountains all lined up in a row. A string of beads are beads all lined up in a row.
NDure
49.ILLITERACY : EDUCATION :: A. bureaucracy :clarification B. oppression : agreement C. vagrancy : travel D. inequity : redistribution E. inclemency : evasion For this one....Education is supposed to fix illiteracy? I think the bridge here is illiteracy is lack of education as inequity is lack of [equal] redistribution
poefin
I think the bridge here is illiteracy is lack of education as inequity is lack of [equal] redistribution Maybe...But then I think it would be distribution instead of redistribution. Not that it really matters, I supposed. Both of them lead to the right answer. To study for analogies....Basically the only way to really do well is to understand the 2nd and 3rd meanings of most of the 'simple' words...And I think that just comes from reading extensively in English...It's not a quick fix and it's not something that can be done easily, but I'm not sure of another way to do it..
