1. Lachrymose:tears

b)ironic; jests

e) verbose: words.

The key answer is E. What bout b? I see it may be reasonable.

MY bridge:

A lachrymose person has lots of tears

a ironic perosn has lots of jests

and a verbose person has lots of words.

All are ok, please find other better and stronger bridges.

2. Mashead: newspaper::credits: film.

Plz show the bridge.

Thanks

Hi fortune,

1.

I think I agree somewhat with you. The main point to be ironic is to give amusement. And jest is to give amusement as well. But "irony" focuses on "contradiction of ideas and "jest" is due to "lack of seriousness". They are perfectly arranged on the same line.

2. I think it is masthead : newspaper

The masthead of the newspaper is used to "consisting of the title of the publication and its address, the date of the issue, and sometimes the names of owners and editors and the subscription and advertising rates " (Merriam-Webster Unabridged)

In short, masthead shows the credits for those who print the newpaper. The credits of a film, which is often at the end of it, shows who to thank as well.

I didn't knew this before. Someone else had to tell me.

I think a lot of Analogy problems relates to American culture. They are really hard for foreigners.
