heartway
hello, I just got admission to Imperial . (Innovation and Entrepreneurship group) It is my dream school. I am extremely excited! Does anyone have any ideas about this program?(placement, training, culture. etc.) The professor are very nice when I email them. It seems that I will go to this program. I am waiting for the result from Lancaster and UCL. I am an international student. I hope I can teach in the U.K. or in European countries, or Hong Kong Singapore when I get my phd. Thanks for you advice.
rsaylors
Edit: the 2012 aacsb list is what I posted about, that is both no longer valid and was at the time highly limited in its accuracy. Edited August 12, 2014 by rsaylors
myself
Never heard of anyone having PhD from Imperial. Perhaps they place some people to England. I would be highly suspicious if they don't post placement statistics.

Indus
@heartway: Congratulations for your admission to Imperial College :encouragement:. Imperial is good school, especially the entrepreneurship group. They also have an excellent engineering department and I believe there is some research overlap with the business school. My personal opinion - Its better than both Lancaster and Kings College. If you have a fully funded offer (or if you have enough of your own funds) and are sure about the research proposal you submitted, I would suggest Imperial. I am sure they can provide you with placement details, if you ask for it. It is still usual in UK/Europe for some PhD graduates to join consultancies/corporation. So I won't be surprised if thats the case with Imperial too. But I know of some good researchers at Imperial and I am also sure that you will be placed well after PhD, especially in UK/Europe. All the best!
rsaylors
Wait, LBS is not accredited? They failed to fill out their AACSB report for this year and so they didn't come up has having a Ph.D. program.

DrDre
Congratulations on your admit heartway. Does the program offer financial assistance of any type (RA/TA) ? All the best to you.
Indus
I am not associated with Imperial in any manner. Nor do I know anything about their finance department. But I do know that the school is trying very hard to move up the hierarchy and has the resources to back up their efforts.
DrDre
Can a PhD from the UK (AACSB accredited school) lead to a tenure track position in the US ?
Bloomsbury
The Innovation & Entrepreneurship department at Imperial hosts Gerry George, chief editor of a small journal you might have heard of, the Academy of Management Journal. I have no idea why it's not AACSB accredited, but considering the quality of the faculty I'm sure it has very decent placement at least in top European/Asian schools. Indus
^^^^ They also have Philip Nelson and Mark Kennedy in the management group, both very accomplished scholars. It will not be hard for an entrepreneurship student to form a committee with a couple of management folks. Frankly, a committee comprising of these three would be as good as you could find in any T50 school. All the best!
